Only one of the patterns I had, adjusted well to the smaller ornaments but with the color variations I think they make nice sets. And it gave me something to do while I tapered off the pain medication that was making me so ill. I will sure be glad when this procedure is finished. In the meantime I am so thankful I have this gift of crochet from my grandmother to occupy my hours with and to share the fruits of my labor. Somehow this crocheting doesn't feel like labor though. It is enjoyable. I hope the recipients enjoy it as well. The set on the bottom I am still working on but this way you can see the before and after.

Gifts
I was feeling a little better this evening after my surgery on Friday and worked on a crocheted ornament. Only the pattern is for large ornaments and mine are small so of course I had to rewrite the pattern. I have two more patterns I want to try and hope they will be easy to adjust as well. I will post photos when I can.

Today I helped my granddaughter make this pirate cake. It is her first cake! She did a great job. Her boss's grandson announced that she was making him a pirate cake for school so how could she refuse this soon to be 4 year old? I think he will love it.We agreed on a three dimensional cake and I suggested she find a photo of a pirate ship so we could get ideas. She found a great cake that someone had posted on the internet that we got many ideas from. However she used two 9 x 13 cakes whereas we used two 9" heart shaped ones. It was a fun time and a big help that her mom was able to pick up a list of things we needed while my granddaughter was at work this evening.
This is just one of many distractions I have had recently that have prevented me from working on that Bolero. And I am not complaining.

Turkey Coasters
This month's featured pattern over at April's Crochet Pallet was a Turkey Coaster. It was an easy pattern and I needed a short break from the bolero I am working on so I made one. Then I thought maybe the feathers should be a different yarn color. So I made another and another and before I knew it I had a set.

Oh, yes there is that turkey coaster I want to crochet. I think I need some yarn for the feathers. I will have to see what I can find.

Beaded Crocheted Scarf
I have been working on this scarf for a couple of weeks now as I have not had as much free time as usual and even though it is a simple pattern, adding the beads does take more time.
This was my first time using Bamboo Crochet Thread and it is very nice to work with. So soft. But it definitely needed blocking afterwards. I am very pleased with it and look forward to being able to wear this lighter weight scarf. It goes especially well with my silver heart pin, which is available from Silver By Fire, Inc. Yes, I am shamelessly promoting my own jewelry, but I do think they are a great combination!

Scarf in Progress interupted
I am more than half way finished with the beaded scarf I am crocheting. It is pretty but a little slow going. I keep getting interrupted. So much going on and today I ended up puppy sitting. Normally this just means putting her down to play with my dog or in his crate to sleep but today she went to the vet for her second set of shots and reacted rather badly.

This is an Applehead Chihuahua puppy with hives. Poor thing. But the Benadryl really helped and made her sleepy.

And this is what she looks like without the hives. So cute!
Maybe tomorrow I will have more time to crochet. I hope the beads will show up in a photo.

Spider Web Scarf

Cards
This week I started on a scarf other than the one I had planned to make. This one resembles a spider web to me and I had leftover black yarn so I decided to give it a try. It is working up fast and should be complete by next week.
I also took some time off today and made some cards. I thought about posting photos but then they won't be a surprise when I send them to friends and family so no photos this week.
